BANFF, LLAMFF and rain…

For Christmas, Georgina bought us tickets to see the legendary BANFF mountain film festival in Malvern theatres. Luckily for us, both film programmes were playing on consecutive nights and Gee had thought about it far enough in advance that we got amazing seats, slap bang in the middle, for both nights…
Both programmes contained some great adventure films, from a flying band to disabled climbers and we thoroughly enjoyed the evenings, even more so for winning a prize. It never happens at these events, so i was super surprised for my name to be read out, not only once, but on the second night too, for the same prize!!! I sort of felt bad, but hey, there’s always a chance of it happening. 1 in 810,000 or something…

BANFF, Sponsored by Keen, Cotswold, Osprey and Buff

Friday night got swallowed up in the tracks of the van as we headed to North Wales for LLAMFF – Llanberis Adventure Mountain Film Festival. We saw the living legend Joe Brown give his second ever presentation (aged 86) on the first ascent of Kangchenjunga back in 1956. I feel genuinely privileged to have been one of the 100 or so people that have watched him tell his story. Laughing at the poems other climbers wrote about his smell and how he became an experienced climber en-route to the summit. Just unbelievable. If you ever get the chance, then book it tickets or fight your way in. Just watch him.
