Slovenia has some awesome climbing in both the East and West. The largest crag that dominates Eastern Slovenia is Kotecnik, a privately owned crag with upwards of 350 sport routes from ~5 up. The crag is mainly sheltered by trees, making it an ideal place in the heat of the summer sun. The owners of the crag are the most welcoming people – we rocked up at 11pm without booking, and woke up mid morning asking if we wanted to have a tour of the facilities and breakfast. The camping is super cheap and they even offer a deal on evening meal, breakfast, climbing snacks. Facilities are great. Possibly the best place we visited on our 6 week trip. Just a shame we weren’t better climbers and there for longer. There is however a small crag just down the road which offers a better range of lower level routes which the owners will give you some info on.
